Nesta serie de contos, Lima Barreto nos brinda com uma critica social do Brasil do inicio do século XX. O texto é bem humorado e seus personagens mais frequentes são o burocrata, o malandro, o empolador de diplomas, o tipico trabalhador e a tipica dona de casa das classes mais baixas da epoca. Diria que o texto envelheceu relativamente bem pois ainda é bem atual. Vale a leitura e recomendo um dicionario ao lado. Lima Barreto vai aumentar bastante o nosso vocabulario.

In this series of short stories, Lima Barreto offers us a social critique of Brazil from the beginning of the 20th century. The text is humorous and its typical characters are the bureaucrat, the trickster, the embellished diploma guy, and the typical working class family. The text has aged relatively well because some of the issues from 100 years ago are still issues today. It is worth a read but I recommend a dictionary on the side. We learn a bunch of new words from Lima Barreto.
